Nitrogen Use Efficiency Program Dead Line May 15, 2026
Lower Niobrara NRD regular Board Meeting will be Monday May 4, 2026 at 7:00pm at the Butte Community Center.

Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE) Program:

The Lower Niobrara Natural Resources District (LNNRD) is partnering with the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy and Environment (DWEE) and the Nebraska Corn Board to deliver the Nebraska Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE) Program. This program encourages corn producers to improve nitrogen use efficiency, with incentives available for those achieving a NUE of 1.0 or less for the 2026 crop. Improving NUE supports both economic returns and long-term water quality across our district.

UNL Nitrogen Management Resources

Nitrogen Technology (N-Tech) Program

The Lower Niobrara NRD is offering the N-Tech Program to help producers adopt sensor- and model-based tools for more precise, in-season nitrogen management. This program is designed to reduce risk, improve efficiency, and support better water quality outcomes.

Producers can also apply for the Nebraska Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE) Program alongside N-Tech.

Lower Niobrara Cost Share Programs

The Lower Niobrara Natural Resources District provides cost-share funding for soil, water, and other conservation practices.

Producer are eligible for 75% or up to $1,500 per field for the following approved practices
